Capitan Suizo is located right on the beach in a beautiful location. It is a 10 minute walk north to Tamarindo restaurants, bars, and stores. This Costa Rica beach hotel includes a nice large pool, including a rope swing for kids and gently sloping shallow end, open bar, and restaurant.
The first floor of the main facility provides large split level rooms with nice decor, air conditioning, small refrigerators, and private patios. Upstairs includes pretty balconies, high angled ceilings and views of the beautiful garden and protected pool area. Access to upstairs rooms requires entry from the back of the building. The bungalows provide extra privacy but do not include air conditioning. All rooms include a telephone and small safe.
The property around this Costa Rica hotel is beautiful including large trees, lush gardens, winding walkways and plenty of open space. The design of this small hotel provides an uncrowded feel even when the hotel is full due to the spacing of the facility.
The chef in the Capitan Suizo restaurant has been a key part of the staff for more than a decade. Originally of German descent, his cuisine is probably the best in Tamarindo.
Capitan Suizo is convenient for scheduling tours, includes horseback riding next door, provides good swimming in front of the facility at low tide, and hammocks under tree's on the beach. Tamarindo offers a wave for beginner, intermediate, and advanced surfers. Several surfing schools provide boards and lessons for those interested in learning to surf in a safe environment. The hotel rents boogie boards, surfboards, and kayaks.
Howler monkey's frequent the tree's around the property, in the mornings during green season and all day during dry, and visitors can expect to see raccoon, squirrel, iguana, and a large variety of birds.
Tamarindo is not a secluded beach area. This beach is home to nightlife, commercialization, and plenty of tourists during season. Playa Langosta, Grande, and other areas nearby do provide more secluded places to relax and are easy to reach from Tamarindo lodging.
