Corcovado National Park is located in the Osa peninsula on the
southwestern Pacific side of Costa Rica. This area is quite
remote and provides fewer amenities than other areas but does reward
visitors with unspoiled rain-forest and hiking in one of Costa Rica's
largest parks.
This park provides excellent opportunities to see
animals of the rainforest and many types of flora and fauna.
Jaguar have been spotted near the large lagoon by many experienced
hikers.
Corcovado National Park receives a tremendous amount of rainfall from
late April through November. During this time animals are more
difficult to see due to the weather and hiking is tough because of
severely muddy conditions.
The trip from San Jose to Osa is a long but beautiful drive lasting
about 8 hours via car and 10-12 hours by bus. Sansa and Nature
Air provide flights to Drake Bay, Palmar Sur, Golfito , and Puerto
Jimenez lasting approximately 45 minutes. Driving to Corcovado
National park during wet season is arduous and requires an adventurous
spirit coupled with a strong 4x4 with a winch.
