Costa Rica air travel options
If planning a trip to Costa Rica, domestic travel means either renting a car, hiring a tour operator, a taxi, or domestic air travel. There are two choices for domestic air travel.
Sansa or Nature Air are the only two domestic Costa Rica air travel options. I prefer Nature Air simply because of slightly better customer service
Both only fly small propeller planes seating between 10 - 30 passengers.
Lots of mountains and windy conditions almost guarantee some bumps along the way but air travel around the country saves a lot of time compared to driving.
One thing to note about domestic air travel in Costa Rica is that the baggage weight limitation is 25 lbs per passenger. Additional luggage costs costa rica air travel.55 per pound and is subject to space and weight limitations!
Oversize luggage such as surf boards are also subject to space limitations and cost per trip.
A change fee applies to schedule changes for both airlines.
If you can be flexible try bidding on tickets at priceline.com or use the flexible date option available on travelocity.com. Remember that changes to discount fares can be expensive so plan your vacation carefully.
