The Costa Rica do and dont list are really just tips for Costa Rica travel to help you keep in mind the best way for you and your family to have a fun vacation in a safe environment with no unpleasant surprises.
The Do's
- Do see the country. A 5 star resort while nice will not provide a true Costa Rican cultural experience
- Do make a copy of your passport to carry with you (picture page and entry stamp)
- Do hire a guide for hiking and wildlife viewing
- Do learn some basic Spanish phrases. It's fun and the locals love it!
- Do leave valuables locked in your room when you leave.
- Do a canopy tour!
- Do your exploring with a friend or companion, not alone.
- Do rent for at least 6 months in the area before you buy property
- Do your homework so you know what to expect
- Do have a FUN vacation!
The Don'ts
- Don't litter or take things away from the rain-forest's and beaches.
- Don't feed the animals
- Don't drive at night
- Don't take midnight strolls on the beach
- Don't expect Tico society to be like "back home"
- Don't expect flawless and swift service
- Don't get in a taxi without an agreement on the fare
- Don't move your vehicle if you have an accident
- Don't bring expensive jewelry
- Don't WORRY!
