Costa Rica Nature Travel Guide
Tropical rainforest animals and Costa Rica nature travel go hand in hand. Your adventure vacation can be at a secluded nature beach, on an active volcano, or in one of the many tropical rainforests in the country.
Each region provides somewhat different environments, flora, and animals.
An example of the diversity found here is the Monteverde cloud forest area. Here you will find over 100 different mammals, litterally hundreds of different types of birds, and of course, monkeys, 3 toed sloths, and many types of reptiles and lizards.
The Monteverde area is about 100 miles northwest of San Jose in the Central Valley of the country. If you choose this area don't miss the Arenal volcano for a day trip you will not soon forget.
A lot of research is necessary to choose an area to visit!
The Manuel Antonio national park is a great location to combine beach activities with hiking, waterfalls, and the opportunity to see nature at its best.
Whether you are after a canopy tour on a zip line in the treetops, or horseback riding on the beach and in the rainforest, or birdwatching and exploring waterfalls, the Manuel Antonio park area is one of the most popular destinations for Costa Rica nature travel in the country.

Of course, Costa Rica nature travel can be right on the beach. Many secluded nature beaches can be found along the miles of coastline in the country.
Tamarindo and Manuel Antonio are two areas that do not provide much seclusion on the beach. Travel during the right time of year and see nesting sea turtles on a beach with tropical rainforest butting right up to the coastline. Monkeys, sea turtles, birds and other tropical rainforest animals all on the same horizon!
Not all tours are created equal! Some waterfalls provide swimming for the kids, some don't. Some Costa Rica nature travel hikes are really strenuous, others are not. Always ask about the length of the tour, travel time to and from, and how strenuous the activity is to ensure a fun vacation.
