It pays to research Costa Rica tours because they are not all the same. Some tours provide amenities not found in others.
Tours to some waterfalls include swimming options while others require a significant "hike" simply to take pictures and enjoy the fantastic scenery.

Costa Rica tours - Canopy
Costa Rica zip line tours are great fun but not if you fear heights or being strapped into climbing gear. Costa Rica zip line tours are found all over the country. My suggestion is to search the web and book directly through the company that provides the tour. Any service providing tours from abroad will simply attach a middle man fee and book directly with a local company.
Any reputable Costa Rica zip line tour should be able to provide pictures of their facility and describe the sites to see. They are not all created equal!
If you prefer, tram oriented canopy tours are available for those that would prefer to sit in a tram rather than hang from a wire. These tours are a bit more relaxing and are suitable for any age traveler.
Costa Rica Tours
Costa Rica has all types of white water rafting opportunities. Stick to Class II or III rivers for beginners, and look for Class IV and V rivers for adrenaline junkies and experienced rafters. The most well known river for white water rafting is the Pacuare river east of San Jose in the mountain range toward the Caribbean coast.
For less experienced rafters consider the Reventazon, Sarapiqui, Savegre, or Penas Blancas.
Be sure to leave your camera at home. Only waterproof cameras are appropriate for these types of tours. Bring water shoes, sunscreen, and a change of clothes with you. These tours can last all day so be sure to pick the right one for you and your family.
