Playa Ocotal Costa Rica beach

Playa Ocotal is just south of Playas del Coco in Guanacaste Costa Rica. Ocotal is a pretty, secluded gray sand beach with moderately calm conditions. The beach is a 3k flat cove that is easy to walk with rocky areas on both ends that include tide pools. Diving and sport fishing is based here with many variety of fish making the rock reef home.

The Ocotal Beach resort dominates this cove. There are smaller hotels in the area, but only a few are beach front. Ocotal is surrounded by steep cliffs on both sides. Playas del Coco is only 5 minutes north for restaurants, banking, and shopping.

Playa Ocotal is a beautiful, secluded nature beach with all the makings of a quiet sedate vacation. It's close proximity to Liberia makes it a convenient place to spend a few days or even longer.

There is a small bar with beach volleyball right on the beach. The views from Ocotal are exceptional. The south end of the beach is best for snorkeling. The water in Playa Ocotal is known for being clear due to the rocky reefs.
