The hamlets of the southern Caribbean in Costa Rica are sandwiched by miles of beautiful secluded beaches.

The Cahuita National Park and Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge provide excellent hiking trails right off the beach areas. Monkey, sloth, and many different bird species are prevalent in the area. The beaches are great for walking and exploring for picnic's or just peaceful solitude.

Manzanillo is a fishing village with a laid back vibe and is a great place to find calmer beaches and fewer of the younger party set. The backpacker's and stores pictured are in Cahuita.

Roads are slow going here and many use bicycle's or scooters for transportation between beaches and hamlets. The Punta Uva and Manzanillo beaches are some of my favorites in the country.
