Baldi Hot Springs Pictorial
Costa Rica Hotels: Costa Rica National Parks: Costa Rica Visitors Guide

The Tabacon Hot Springs Resort features a beautiful garden setting including natural hot springs and mineral water pools. The hot springs come from the active Arenal volcano located near by.
The springs meander through the grounds paralleled by beautiful walkways and surrounded by lush tropical plants and trees.

Each hot spring and pool contains a different mineral count and water temperature. The pools are designed for peaceful relaxation while many of the springs provide waterfalls to massage the bodies muscles. The resort also boasts an Iskandria Spa for the ultimate in pampering.

There are warnings on the Internet about this area being dangerous. The reason for this is that on occasion Arenal has erupted and showered the area below with its hot debris. In 1968 seventy eight people were killed and numerous minor events have been experienced since then. Tabacon continues to be a popular and crowded venue.

If you stay at the hotel the hot springs are available for your entire stay as part of the hotel cost. Tickets to visit Tabacon Hot Springs gardens are $29 per person. Day tours are available from San Jose and elsewhere to visit the facility including a buffet style dinner. I recommend visiting the Arenal area and Hot Springs for a minimum of 2 nights, preferably 3, to truly enjoy and experience this part of Costa Rica.
